Web 2.0 Tools are everywhere! New ones are constantly appearing! This list of tools is just a starting point for Web 2.0 exploration for HSTI 2008 attendees.

Wikis

Features to look for: mail, discussion threads, permission options for users, import for blogs, viewable changes, reporting on changes

Blogs

Examples: 2ยข Worth - Mobile Musings - Cool Cat Teacher
As you explore the following blogging tools for classroom use, keep in mind the following evaluation indicators:
  • Do you have to create an account in the program to comment on a blog?
  • Do you have to have an email account to create a login?
  • Once you've created a blog can you make it private? Can you invite email addresses to join?
  • Can you create accounts for your students?
  • Can you request to approve all posts before they are public?

Document Sharing

Document sharing is perfect for any collaborative project. Instead of sending and downloading files for others to see or edit, create one file and send the link. You can import an existing file or create a new one. This is also a great way to provide Office-like tools to all students.
